October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of this disease, many forget to take necessary steps to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. There has been a lot of progress, but there is still a long way to go.
According to the National Cancer Institute, when breast cancer is detected early, in the localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is 98%.
