Chicago knows their red light cameras are flawed and yet most of them are still in place. They have wrongfully ticketed thousands of drivers. We've received tickets in the mail with a photo of the back of our vehicle showing the red break lights illuminated. Duh! I know many people who have been wronged by these cameras. It's impossible to contest these tickets, unless you were part of the recent class action suit against the City of Chicago.
The only good news here is since you were not ticketed by a police officer and there is no way to prove who was driving the car, a red light camera violation is a civil offense. You'll pay a fine, but the violation won't go on your driving record or increase your insurance rates.
